RIDESHARE:
CATA uses a program to match individuals from the surrounding communities who share the same commute. You will be asked to provide the information that we need to make a car- or vanpool match list personalized to your schedule. Participants receive a free, custom Match List that will provide you with the opportunity to contact other registered commuters who live in or commute through your area. You simply contact these people and make your personal arrangements. You are under no obligation to use the information provided to you. You may remain inactive if you prefer and your information will not be provided to others. GUARANTEED RIDE HOME (GRH):
CATA is aware of the possible emergency needs faced by carpooling commuters. In an effort to address this concern, we have established a Guaranteed Ride Home Program. All members of the RideShare Program who are in established car- or vanpools have the option to participate for an annual fee of $10 (no fee required for full-time Penn State Faculty and Staff). The Guaranteed Ride Home program offers a free ride home (up to 50 miles) in emergency situations. It includes up to four trips per calendar year for illness and/or medical emergencies, workplace shut-down, family disasters (flood, fire, medical, etc.), and work-related emergencies which would require unscheduled overtime. You will be provided with a taxi ride or rental car to the appropriate destination at no charge to you. Arrangements to pick up a child from daycare or school and then proceed to the proper destination are allowable. The GRH program will also provide rides to registered riders whose driver has an emergency and cannot provide the ride home. If you are already a member of a car- or vanpool, simply register with CATA's RideShare Program and request to be enrolled in the GRH program.
